The Beijing Jinmao Residence, a 640 square meter space, is a unique blend of urban sophistication and traditional aesthetics. The designers drew inspiration from the urbanization process, focusing on creating a space that caters to the high expectations of modern life while providing potential for expansion.
The residence is divided into two main areas: a public area for social communication and a private area for individual privacy. The public area includes an end hall, saloon, dining room, and kitchen, all separated by a perpendicular axis to maintain an expansive view. The private area, on the other hand, offers a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The design team used a freestanding villa-accessing method to emphasize the concept of residence. The facades, mainly composed of beige marble and steel frame, create a strong and forceful atmosphere. A unique eave was added to pay homage to classical architecture.
The master bedroom was designed with an artistic approach, featuring traditional Chinese furniture and an expanded window view that brings nature indoors. The guest rooms are adorned with furniture from internationally recognized brands like Monotti, Poltrona Frau, and Poliform, and are enhanced by wrinkled paneling paintings and sculptures.
Despite the challenges of maintaining the original texture and palette of the stone in the public spaces, the design team managed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The use of light shades of stone and warm-toned wood veneer adds to the tranquility of the space, providing a respite from urban noise.
The Beijing Jinmao Residence is not just a design marvel; it's a reflection of the designers' wisdom and creativity. It's no surprise that it was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018, a testament to its outstanding design and trendsetting creation.
